The sixth New Wood competition once again rewarded innovations in which wood offers sustainable solutions to global challenges. This year, Lavliér also competed – with issue 6: Forest cosmetics made from spruce sugar.
Lavliér is a Finnish startup founded in 2023 that develops cosmetics using side streams from the forest industry. Forest cosmetics™ combines low-chemical, biodegradability and renewable raw materials, and our goal is to create safer and more responsible alternatives to traditional cosmetic products.
Lavliér has developed prototypes of familiar products, such as shampoo and cream, as well as completely new innovations, such as alcohol-free perfume and chemical-free serum. The chemical load of the products has been reduced by up to 80% compared to traditional products.
One example of Forest Cosmetics is Tree Sugar Balm – a universal balm that contains spruce sugar and is packaged in @Sulapac wood composite packaging.
Lavliér came third in the public vote of the New Tree 2025 competition!
Virpi Korhonen from the New Tree project came to the store to bring us a certificate of honor – and the feeling was full of gratitude and joy. 🤍
A big thank you to everyone who voted and supported us!
This achievement is an important step forward on our journey towards more sustainable cosmetics – Forest Cosmetics™, which are created from Finnish forests and their renewable raw materials. 🌿
